Living Stillness Retreat
Hidden Villa
Los Altos Hills, CA
Thursday, April 23, 2026 (4pm) - Sunday, April 26, 2026 (2pm)
We invite you to gather in a beautiful, communal setting, as we care for our bodies, minds, and hearts within the shared container of retreat. Whatever is true for you—whatever is unfolding in your life and inner world—come as you are. This retreat is open to new and experienced practitioners of meditation and mindfulness.
Retreat is a rare chance to dwell more fully in the here and now, where love and growth are possible, as Jon Kabat-Zinn has said. We will slow down, release our demanding routines, and be nourished by silence, nature, and community. We will take refuge in practice—allowing the steady rhythm of meditation and awareness to hold us as we lean into the present.
On retreat, we surrender the exhausting pursuit of endlessly straining to be elsewhere, meeting each moment as an opportunity to awaken, enjoy, and be more kind. We discover a spacious ease that feels radiant and new—yet somehow familiar.
Hidden Villa offers a peaceful and inspiring environment for our time together. With its rolling meadows, quiet woodlands, and miles of scenic trails, this retreat center provides the perfect sanctuary to slow down, reconnect with nature, and nurture a sense of inner stillness.
Retreat includes:
Sitting & walking meditation*
Gentle movement
Journaling, group reflection, and Q/A
Dharma talk(s)
Nourishing farm-to-table meals
Hiking trails and a tranquil, forested setting
*Prioritizing self-care is at the heart of this retreat. Resting on your back or using a chair in the space is absolutely welcomed.
Schedule
Room check-in begins at 4pm on Thursday. We invite you to arrive earlier, hike on the beautiful trails, enjoy the farm, and connect with others.
There is a required orientation at 5:45pm before dinner, followed by an evening session.
Friday and Saturday each offer a full day of group sessions and time to rest.
Sunday includes a full morning of sessions and lunch. The retreat ends at 2pm.
Full attendance is required for all participants. Please register only if you are able to commit to the complete duration of the retreat.
Silence
Beginning Friday morning, we will enter a period of silence and formal guided practice, which will continue until Sunday around lunchtime. There will be time for journaling, group reflection, and questions. You will be fully supported with guidance, teachings, and the gift of being together. While some may feel hesitant about getting quiet in this way, many discover a deep, previously unrecognized longing for silence. When paired with mindfulness, community, nourishing food, and time in nature, silence becomes an unparalleled gateway to insight, self-discovery, and renewal.
Food
Our beloved friend, Ruthie Praskins is a one-of-a-kind chef who brings immense love and artistry to every meal, crafting beautiful dishes with care and intention. Throughout the retreat, you’ll enjoy three nourishing meals per day (Thursday dinner - Sunday lunch), all included in your registration.
Meals are omnivore-based, but Ruthie gladly accommodates dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options. Every dish is made to support your well-being, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the retreat experience.
Accommodations
